Splice the mainbrace!

Splice the mainbrace: A naval phrase that celebrates courage, teamwork and friendship forged in the heart of battle. In the days of sail, the main sail was steadied, or braced, with a thick rope called the Mainbrace. If this was severed by enemy fire, a team of sailors had to ‘splice the mainbrace’ back together whilst under fire, to save the ship and win the battle. As a reward for successfully achieving this titanic task, the captain would order the ship’s purser to issue a double ration of rum, or gin, to the team as a toast to victory.

Prior to our involvement, Mainbrace had been launched for just over a year and in that time had gathered numerous prestigious gold and silver taste awards. Based on this pretty instant success Mainbrace approached us to help create a more defined and professional looking brand to reflect the products growing status and reputation.

We worked very closely with the Mainbrace team helping to initially refine the core brand components which included the logo, colour palette, tag line, photographic style and the products Cornwall inspired roots. Once defined we commenced with the creation of a new visual styling, aligned to the clients ‘Splice the Mainbrace’ inception story.

To date we have applied this visual styling to a wide range of products including the creation, build and launch of a new transactional website complete with moving media sequence, promotional gift pack products, event and festival displays, banners and flags, van livery, Google advert templates, t’shirts and promotional postcards.
